ESCWA organized, in cooperation with the Royal Scientific Society in Jordan, an Expert Group Meeting on Promotion of South-South Cooperation in Technology Transfer, held during 20-21 April 2011 at El Hassan Science City, Amman.  
 
The meeting was opened by the Director of ESCWA Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Mr. Yousef Nusseir, and the Executive Director for External Affairs of the Royal Scientific Society, Mr. Tareq Al-Hadid. It was attended by 32 participants including experts from universities and research centres, governmental and non-governmental institutions, International Organizations working the field of technology transfer, as well as from financial institutions that work closely with businesses.  Dr. Imad Kahtib, Secretary General of Palestine Academy attended the meeting.  The aim of the meeting

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division of ESCWA, including the ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) is organizing an Expert Group Meeting on Promotion of South-South Cooperation in Technology Transfer, during 25-26 October 2011. The meeting will be hosted by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Lebanon (FCCIAL), and will be held at the Chamber of Beirut, CCIABML building, Sanayeh, Justinien Street, Beirut, Lebanon. The meeting covers the areas of manufacturing, construction, technological innovation, and technology for education.

 The Final Conference of Join-MED was held on December 12 and 13, 2011 in Tunis with the purpose of summing up the achievements of the project and developing a view for the future. The title of the conference "Information Technology: Its Role for the Social Transformation and Economic Development in the MPCs" was a reference to the recent events in Tunisia and Egypt and the role that IT had played.

UPM Ma-Pi diet program meeting, 3 – 8 July, 2011 – Rome, ITALY PDF Print E-mail

A program meeting took place in Rome headed by the UPM president Professor Mario Pianesi. Participants from Palestine, Jordan, Tunisia, the Arab League, Italy, Chad and Cote Devoir attended the meeting. Timeframe for implementation of the program in each country were discussed thoroughly. It is anticipated to implement the program in Palestine by the end of 2011.
