International Conference
Water: Values and Rights
Ramallah, 2-4 May 2005 - A three-day long Conference on Water: Values
and Rights will open in Ramallah, on Monday, 2 May 2005. The Conference
is a joint organization of the Palestine Academy for Science and
Technology (PALAST) and the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) and
co-sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme.
Water, as an essential substance for life, is becoming globally and
regionally a daily source of conflict that necessitates international
communities, including scientific, to jointly develop ways and means
that will insure sustainable supply and distribution of water to
everyone.
The Conference aims to provide scientists, researchers, experts,
decision-makers and those interested from the private and public sectors
with a platform to introduce the latest in the state of the art in the
diverse fields of water resource management and rights. Over 50 reviewed
papers will be presented, addressing four essential themes: water
resources management, wastewater management, water rights and
international water law, and lastly, water: development, strategic
planning and regional cooperation.
Key international speakers, such as Prof. Luigi Campanella, Prof. Danilo
Zolo from Italy, Prof. David Phillips and Prof. Miles Burton from the
UK, Prof. Mac Mckee, Prof. Stephen Mac Caffery and Prof. Henry Vaux from
the USA and Prof. Ferran Izquierdo Brichs and Prof. Ramon Llamas from
Spain will participate in the Conference.
The Conference will be held at the Best Eastern Hotel in Ramallah.
